ISLAMABAD: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has reaffirmed its commitment to issuing new currency notes for Eid-ul-Fitr 2025, dispelling rumors that they would not be available.
In an official statement, the central bank emphasized its “long-standing tradition” of providing fresh banknotes to commercial banks ahead of the religious festival.
“To ensure easy access to new currency notes, the SBP is utilizing the extensive branch network of banks nationwide,” the statement read. It further revealed that during Ramadan 2025, the SBP has already distributed Rs 27 billion in fresh notes to over 17,000 commercial bank branches.
To facilitate smooth distribution, the SBP has arranged for cash availability through ATM networks and deployed cash monitoring teams to ensure an uninterrupted supply of new currency at all commercial bank branches.
Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 Date and Traditions
As Ramadan progresses, Pakistanis are preparing for the joyous tradition of giving ‘Eidi’—monetary gifts often in the form of crisp new banknotes.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 is expected to fall on Monday, March 31, 2025. However, the final decision will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee based on the sighting of the Shawwal moon.
