Pakistani singer Asim Azhar has officially announced the end of his engagement with actress and model Merub Ali, marking the conclusion of a relationship that had garnered considerable public interest since it was first revealed in 2022.
The announcement was made via Azhar’s Instagram story late on June 12, 2025, where he confirmed that the decision to part ways was taken “peacefully and mutually” after much thought and reflection.
“After a great deal of thought and reflection, Merub & I have chosen to move forward on separate paths peacefully & mutually,” Azhar wrote in his heartfelt message.
He acknowledged the meaningful moments they shared and the genuine intentions both had for building a future together, but also admitted that sometimes, life follows a different course than what is planned.
While the two had become a beloved couple in the eyes of fans and the media alike, Azhar emphasized that the breakup was carried out with the utmost respect on both sides. “We have the utmost respect for each other and the families involved, and always will,” he noted in his statement.
Azhar, known for his hit tracks like Jo Tu Na Mila and Habibi, also took the opportunity to request privacy and understanding from fans and the general public. “We kindly ask for your understanding and privacy during this time, and hope this is met with the same grace with which it is being shared,” he added.
