Despite the intense global anticipation surrounding the Asia Cup 2025, ticket sales for the highly anticipated clash between Pakistan and India have been surprisingly low, prompting organisers to reduce prices ahead of the match. The iconic rivalry will once again take center stage at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday, September 14, drawing attention from cricket fans worldwide.
Initially, standard tickets were priced at 475 dirhams, but following feedback from fans regarding the high costs, organisers have lowered them to 350 dirhams. Premium enclosures, in particular, have been the slowest to sell, with a significant number of seats still available less than a week before the match.
The organisers expressed surprise at the slower-than-expected demand for an event that is traditionally one of the most-watched in global cricket.
India enters the contest with momentum, having secured a dominant nine-wicket victory over the UAE in their opening match. The Indian team bowled out the UAE for just 57 runs and chased the total in only 4.3 overs, showcasing their strong form. Pakistan, on the other hand, will begin their campaign against Oman on Friday at the same venue, ahead of their high-stakes encounter with India.
Historically, India and Pakistan have met 13 times in T20 cricket, with India winning 10 matches and Pakistan three. Their most recent T20 encounter was on February 23 during the ICC Champions Trophy in Dubai, where India defeated Pakistan by six wickets.
The Pakistan squad for the match includes Salman Agha (capt), Abrar Ahmed, Faheem Ashraf, Fakhar Zaman, Haris Rauf, Hasan Ali, Hasan Nawaz, Hussain Talat, Khushdil Shah, Mohammad Haris (wk), Mohammad Nawaz, Mohammad Wasim, Sahibzada Farhan, Saim Ayub, Salman Mirza, Shaheen Shah Afridi, and Sufiyan Muqeem.
Indiaโs squad features Suryakumar Yadav (c), Shubman Gill (vc), Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya, Shivam Dube, Axar Patel, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Jasprit Bumrah, Arshdeep Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson (wk), Harshit Rana, and Rinku Singh.
Organisers hope that the price reduction will attract more fans and fill the stadium for what promises to be a thrilling contest between two cricketing powerhouses.
