UAE to Host Tournament from September 9 to 28
The much-anticipated Asia Cup 2025 is officially set to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from September 9 to 28, as announced by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and Asian Cricket Council (ACC) President Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday. The confirmation has put an end to weeks of uncertainty surrounding the tournament’s schedule.
Sharing the update on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), Naqvi expressed his satisfaction in confirming the tournament timeline. “I’m pleased to confirm the schedule of the Asia Cup 2025. Fans can expect thrilling cricketing action,” he said. He also added that a detailed match schedule would be released shortly.
The tournament will feature eight teams, divided into two groups. Group A includes Pakistan, India, the UAE, and Oman, while Group B comprises Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, and Hong Kong. The competition will kick off with a Group B clash between Afghanistan and Hong Kong on September 9.
Pakistan vs India Showdown Headlines Group Stage
The highlight of the group stage is undoubtedly the Pakistan vs India encounter, scheduled for September 14. Cricket fans across the world eagerly anticipate this match, given the intense rivalry and high-stakes drama traditionally associated with it.
Pakistan will begin its campaign against Oman on September 12, while India opens its tournament against the UAE on September 10. Pakistan is also set to face the UAE on September 17.
Should both Pakistan and India qualify for the Super Four stage, another blockbuster clash between the arch-rivals could take place on September 21, adding even more excitement to the tournament.
Reports from Indian media also indicate that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has obtained government clearance to participate in the Asia Cup and face Pakistan, clearing a major hurdle in the lead-up to the event.
Although India is the official host nation for Asia Cup 2025, the tournament is being held in the UAE, primarily due to political and logistical considerations.
