XI’AN: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, accompanied by a Pakistani delegation, visited the historical Terracotta Warriors Museum in Xi’an, China, on Saturday.

This visit was part of an invitation extended by Chinese President Xi Jinping to the prime minister to explore the museum in his hometown, Xi’an.

During the visit, Prime Minister Shehbaz and his delegation received a comprehensive briefing on the preservation and restoration efforts of the historical heritage and the promotion of tourism at the site.

The prime minister, who is on a five-day official visit to China, toured various sections of the museum, expressing admiration for the beauty of ancient Chinese heritage and the exceptional craftsmanship of Chinese artisans.

“Great nations protect and take care of their historical assets like the Chinese do,” remarked PM Shehbaz, adding that the craftsmanship displayed by the Chinese artisans of 200 BC was truly commendable.

He also lauded the Chinese government’s diligent efforts in preserving and restoring such a significant historical site, drawing parallels with Pakistan’s own rich historical and cultural heritage.

The prime minister extended his gratitude to President Xi for the invitation to visit the museum, which provided valuable insights into China’s historical preservation efforts.

Federal ministers Khawaja Asif, Ahsan Iqbal, Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ataullah Tarar, Dr. Musadik Malik, Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, and Rana Tanveer Hussain were among those who accompanied the prime minister during this visit.

The previous day, Prime Minister Shehbaz met President Xi at the iconic Great Hall of the People in Beijing. During their meeting, they expressed a mutual resolve to deepen cooperation across various domains, including political, security, economic, trade, and people-to-people exchanges.

In a post on social media platform X, PM Shehbaz wrote, “Had the honour of meeting President Xi Jinping at the iconic Great Hall of People in Beijing. We discussed various dimensions of the multi-faceted Pakistan-China relationship and reaffirmed our longstanding and steadfast friendship, All-Weather Strategic cooperation, economic and trade ties, and CPEC.”

The premier further elaborated that they mutually decided to enhance economic cooperation through the timely completion of ongoing CPEC initiatives, which is entering its next phase with the development of five new corridors.

He congratulated President Xi on the success of the 3rd Belt and Road Forum and ten years of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

Prime Minister Shehbaz underscored Pakistan’s commitment to working with China to promote regional connectivity and economic development, highlighting the goal of transforming Gwadar into a connectivity hub for the socio-economic development of Pakistan. He also extended an invitation to President Xi to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

The premier concluded by sharing that President Xi reassured China’s continued support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and development.

He emphasized that China would continue to aid Pakistan in harnessing its geo-economic potential as a hub of regional trade and economics.
