5th Women’s Conference Takes Center Stage at Arts Council of Pakistan

The Arts Council marked the eve of International Women’s Day with the vibrant and insightful 5th Women’s Conference on March 7, offering a platform for inspiring women to share their perspectives on women’s roles in society.

President Ahmed Shah of the Arts Council actively participated in the event, opening with a poetic recitation. The conference comprised eight sessions, initiating with a captivating dance performance and musical theater to set the tone for the day.

A notable highlight was the tribute to Muniza Shamsi, who received the ‘Lifetime Achievement Award’ in recognition of her significant contributions. The session ‘Dil Ki Baat’ featured an engaging conversation with Bee Gul, Zubeida Mustafa, Noor-ul-Huda Shah, and Anis Haroon, delving into various facets of women’s experiences. Huda Shah, particularly, shared profound insights into women’s rights.

The conference also showcased dance performances by Nighat Choudhry, Sumaira Ali, and Daniya Kanwal. In ‘The Changing Measure of Success,’ renowned actor Hiba Bukhari expressed her views on the evolving role of women in society, emphasizing the need for support in their lives.

A musical journey titled ‘Roop’ enriched the conference’s cultural offerings. The theatrical presentation ‘Kamla’ shed light on the treatment of women by various members of society, provoking thought and discussion.

In the session ‘Hamari Kahaniyan,’ Kaif Ghaznavi, Kulsoom Aftab, and Sameena Nazir recited poems by renowned poets, adding a poetic dimension to the conference.

The event reached its artistic crescendo with a classical dance performance by Ringhat Chaudhry, also known as Udaan, concluding with the rendition of the famous poem ‘Rang Bikhre.’

The 5th Women’s Conference, hosted by the Arts Council, not only celebrated the achievements of women but also provided a dynamic platform for meaningful conversations and artistic expressions, fostering a collective appreciation for women’s roles in society.
