Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Asim Munir, on Thursday reaffirmed that the Pakistan Armed Forces are fully prepared to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity against all present and future threats.
According to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the army chief made these remarks during his visit to Bahawalpur Garrison, where he was briefed on key operational, training and administrative matters of the Corps, with a particular focus on preparedness for multi-domain warfare.
During the visit, Field Marshal Munir observed a high-intensity field exercise, Steadfast Resolve, conducted at Khairpur Tamewali. The exercise showcased the integration of niche and emerging technologies, including unmanned aerial systems, advanced surveillance tools, electronic warfare capabilities and modern command-and-control mechanisms, highlighting the armed forces’ transition towards technology-enabled operations.
Addressing officers and troops, the army chief lauded their high morale, professional competence and operational readiness. He stressed the importance of maintaining optimal preparedness to effectively respond to evolving battlefield and security challenges.
Field Marshal Munir noted that the character of warfare has undergone a rapid transformation due to technological advancements. He emphasised that future conflicts would increasingly rely on technological manoeuvres rather than traditional physical movements, fundamentally reshaping offensive and defensive strategies. In this regard, he said innovation, indigenisation and adaptation remain central to the armed forces’ ongoing transformation.
Earlier, the army chief inaugurated the ROHI E-Skills Learning Hub (STP), aimed at promoting digital skills and expanding learning opportunities for students, particularly from southern Punjab and other underserved regions. He also inaugurated the APS Abbasia Campus, reaffirming the Pakistan Army’s commitment to quality education and character building.
During the visit, he was also briefed at the EME Regional Workshop on advanced maintenance regimes supporting modern military platforms. Upon arrival, Field Marshal Munir laid a floral wreath at Yadgar-e-Shuhada and offered Fateha, paying tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs.
