Popular Bollywood actress and TV personality Archana Puran Singh has been diagnosed with Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a rare and chronic neurological condition marked by severe, persistent nerve pain. The news was shared by her son, Ayushmaan Sethi, through an emotional Instagram video detailing his mother’s struggle with the condition.
Archana reportedly developed CRPS following a wrist injury in 2025 while filming Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video. What initially seemed like a standard injury progressed into a permanent condition that has significantly impacted her hand.
Despite enduring excruciating pain, Archana has continued working in films and web series and even launched her own YouTube channel at 60, showcasing remarkable resilience.
CRPS, often referred to as the “suicide disease” due to the intensity of its pain, primarily affects a limb after an injury. The central nervous system fails to regulate pain signals properly, causing the brain and spinal cord to send exaggerated pain messages long after the original wound has healed.
Patients frequently describe the pain as constant burning or a “pins and needles” sensation, with even light touch or minor temperature changes triggering severe discomfort.
Other common symptoms include swelling, changes in skin color, excessive sweating, stiffness, and muscle weakness in the affected area.
While CRPS is not considered life-threatening, doctors emphasize that it is profoundly life-altering. There is currently no known cure, though early intervention and specialized therapy can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life.
The revelation of Archana Puran Singh’s diagnosis has drawn an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues in the film industry. Many have praised her courage for maintaining her iconic cheerful persona on-screen, especially on The Kapil Sharma Show, while privately battling this debilitating, invisible illness. Archana’s openness has also helped raise awareness about CRPS, highlighting the challenges faced by those living with this rare and painful condition.
