Pakistan has introduced its first dedicated animal rescue mobile app, Woofy. The platform aims to speed up emergency responses for vulnerable animals. The app officially launched to the public on Sunday after a local event. Now, citizens can report injured, abandoned, or abused animals within minutes.
Woofy focuses on simple and quick reporting. Users open the app and tap the green “Report Now” button. Then, they select a category such as injured, abused, or abandoned. After that, they upload a photo and share the exact location. They also enter a contact number for follow-up. In addition, users can write short notes to explain the situation clearly.
This process reduces delays in rescue operations. As a result, responders receive accurate information quickly. Moreover, the app connects people who report cases with volunteers ready to help. The goal is clear. Faster communication leads to faster care.
Real-time dashboards connect reporters, rescuers, and veterinarians
Woofy offers separate profiles for reporters and rescuers. Therefore, each user type can work efficiently. The app also provides two real-time dashboards. One dashboard tracks the progress of rescue cases. The other helps manage incoming reports and updates. Consequently, everyone stays informed without confusion.
Once a case appears on the system, nearby rescuers can view it instantly. They can contact the reporter and reach the animal quickly. Furthermore, Woofy has partnered with veterinary clinics and doctors. Rescuers can find nearby treatment centers through the app. Some partner clinics even offer discounted services. This support reduces costs and encourages timely treatment.
Developers also plan to introduce dedicated transport services. Special rescue vehicles will help move animals safely to veterinary facilities. This upcoming feature aims to solve a major challenge in emergency response. Reliable transport can save precious time during critical situations.
Developed by activists, rollout begins in twin cities
Animal welfare activists Yair Salman and Talha Chaudry founded Woofy. They developed the platform over the past year. Their mission focuses on improving animal welfare through technology. The app is now available for download on both iOS and Android devices. Users can find it on the App Store and Google Play Store.
Currently, Woofy operates in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. However, expansion plans are already in motion. The team intends to bring the service to more cities across Pakistan. With wider coverage, the impact could grow significantly.
Woofy represents a new step for community-driven animal rescue in Pakistan. It encourages public participation and organized response. Most importantly, it makes help accessible with a single tap. As awareness increases, more animals may receive timely care and protection.
