American actress Christy Carlson Romano sustained multiple facial injuries during a recent shooting trip.
The Even Stevens star revealed on Instagram that she was hospitalized on February 7 after being struck in the face multiple times while celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s 42nd birthday in Austin, Texas.
Romano, 40, explained that she had taken her husband for a clay pigeon shooting experience as a gift when another group nearby fired in an unsafe direction, causing the accident. She shared a video showing visible injuries on her right eye and forehead.
Describing the terrifying ordeal, she stated, “I saw my life flash before my eyes.” Romano was struck in five places, including near her right eye. She credited her husband for immediately taking action and rushing her to the hospital.
Doctors discovered a fragment lodged behind her eye, but due to the risks involved, surgery was not considered a viable option at this time. Fortunately, she assured her followers that her vision remained unaffected, and medical professionals would continue to monitor her condition.
As she recovers, Romano expressed deep gratitude to her family, friends, and fans for their support. She also acknowledged the first responders and medical personnel who treated her, calling them “superhero-like people” for their care and dedication.
Reflecting on the incident, she urged people to cherish their loved ones, emphasizing how quickly life can change. “Hug the people around you every chance you get,” she said.
