Hamala: The Amazon Web Services infrastructure was reportedly hit Wednesday morning at Hamala, Bahrain. There were no further details about the actual extent of damage. Given the fact that similar attacks in UAE disabled the web services of many brands, including a Pakistani branchless banking name Sadapay, there are ample chances that there can be disruptions, or the services might be slow to laod on.
it is pertinent to note that last day, the IRGC Aerospace unit made a very pointed threat to the US companies engaged in information technology sector that their web servers and other similar repositories can be struck in retaliation to similar acts of striking non military targets in Iran; specifically the universities and research institutes. Earlier, the IRGC announced the striking of campuses across the region, but it seems to have shelved the plan for a more pointed strike on the economic interests of the companies like Microsoft, Apple, Google, Amazon, etc in retaliation of relentless strikes in Iran.
During the 12 day war in June 2025, the Iranian warheads were able to hit web servers connected to these companies, specifically the Microsoft in Beer Sheeba industrial district, almost scoring direct hits in the progress. Given the fact that the banking sector, the entertainment sector dependence upon IT related connectivity is of vital importance, such outages due to physical server unavailability can cause inconvenience to the consumers, besides landing these online product vendors in bad situation and consequently low revenues.
