ISLAMABAD: Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (DG ISPR), Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that all assets of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) remain safe following unprovoked Indian attacks along the Line of Control (LoC), which began late last night.
Addressing a media briefing, the DG ISPR stated that India had initiated unprovoked firing across the LoC, escalating tensions in the region. He confirmed that while Pakistan responded decisively, all PAF aircraft and facilities remain unharmed.
Lt Gen Chaudhry revealed that Pakistani forces shot down five Indian fighter jets in response to the aggression. He noted that the PAF had the capability to bring down even more — up to 10 Indian Air Force jets — but exercised restraint to avoid further escalation.
“Pakistan has responded to Indian aggression and will continue to respond appropriately,” he said. “India’s miscalculations will be addressed with clarity and resolve.”
The DG ISPR also condemned an Indian strike targeting the Noseri Dam, part of Pakistan’s Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project. He called the targeting of critical civilian infrastructure “an intolerable and dangerous escalation,” warning of serious consequences if India continues on this path.
“Is India willing to jeopardize the water resources upon which millions of Pakistanis depend? Does it fully understand the repercussions of such reckless actions?” he questioned. “Under international law and the rules of armed conflict, targeting hydropower projects and water reserves is neither lawful nor ethical.”
Lt Gen Chaudhry emphasized that these actions not only violate established legal frameworks but also endanger regional peace and civilian safety.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, he concluded: “Our actions are purely in self-defence. We will safeguard our sovereignty, but we remain committed to peace and stability in the region.”
