Balochistan Assembly member Ali Madad Jattak took oath as a provincial minister on Monday. Governor Jaffer Mandokhel administered the ceremony in Quetta.ย Jattak will now take charge of the crucial provincial home department.
The home ministry remained without a dedicated minister for two years, with Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti managing its responsibilities. Therefore, Jattakโs appointment comes as a significant step to strengthen law and order in the province. Moreover, observers believe it will improve administrative efficiency and governance.
Chief Minister Sarfaraz Bugti, provincial ministers, assembly members, secretaries, and other officials attended the oath ceremony. In addition, the event highlighted the provincial governmentโs focus on stabilizing governance and boosting public confidence.
Political journey of Ali Madad Jattak
Ali Madad Jattak, a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) member, won the general elections held on February 8 and initially served as Balochistanโs agriculture minister. However, Mir Pirkani, a JUI-F candidate from PB-45, challenged his victory, and an election tribunal voided it.
Following the tribunalโs decision, authorities held a by-election in 15 polling stations of PB-45 Quetta. Jattak won again, secured his assembly seat, and therefore earned his place in the provincial cabinet. Consequently, he now assumes one of the most critical portfolios in the province.
Officials confirmed that Jattak will directly manage the home ministry portfolio, which the Chief Minister handled for two years. As a result, they expect his leadership to bring renewed focus to internal security and law enforcement.
Focus on security and law enforcement
As home minister, Jattak will lead policing, internal security, and law and order across Balochistan. Meanwhile, the province faces ongoing administrative and security challenges, making his role highly significant.
Jattakโs induction comes at a critical time. Security forces have been conducting counterterrorism operations across the province. Over the past three days, they have killed 22 terrorists. In addition, officials expect Jattak to enhance coordination with security agencies and improve operational efficiency.
Furthermore, the provincial government aims to strengthen governance and public safety through his appointment. By prioritizing the home department, authorities plan to address both administrative and security challenges more effectively.
Observers say that with Jattak now at the helm, law enforcement may improve significantly. In addition, decision-making could accelerate, and coordination between provincial authorities and security forces may become more efficient.
