Legendary Pakistani actor Tauqeer Nasir, a household name for his remarkable performances in dramas like Yaad Piya Ki Aye, Thakan, Sona Chandi and Landa Bazaar, has made a surprising revelation about Bollywood superstar Ajay Devgn.
In a recent interview on a local digital platform, Nasir disclosed that Devgn’s distinctive acting style has been heavily inspired by him for years.
Reflecting on this connection, Nasir remarked, “I don’t know why he copies me; he has been doing it for years. I haven’t contacted him, nor has he contacted me. Many people told me that he has mentioned my name in the interviews, which is true. It is a big thing, because here people rarely acknowledge their inspirations. It is his greatness that he mentioned my name.”
Nasir praised Devgn’s humility for openly crediting him, noting how rare it is for actors to acknowledge those who shaped their craft. He also revealed that his own artistic inspiration was drawn from the legendary Waheed Murad.
Curious about Devgn’s admiration, Nasir said he later watched several of the actor’s films, including Omkara. He observed clear similarities in Devgn’s performances, particularly in the way he relies on his eyes to convey emotions. “I did notice some resemblance in his work, especially in the way he uses his eyes to express emotions, just as I do. Eyes are the strongest tool in acting, as they create a powerful impact. Acting isn’t a joke,” he emphasized.
Tauqeer Nasir’s influence on Pakistani entertainment is immense, with a career spanning decades across television and film. He has starred in hit dramas like Kashkol, Samandar, Reza Reza, Dehleez, and Panah.
For his services to the arts, he has been decorated with the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz and Sitara-e-Imtiaz. Beyond acting, he also served as director general of the Pakistan National Council of Arts and currently contributes to the Pakistan Censor Board.
