Pakistan’s T20I captain Salman Agha has expressed confidence ahead of the highly anticipated Asia Cup final against arch-rivals India, assuring fans that the Green Shirts will give their best to clinch victory.
Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Agha said the team’s focus is on executing its strategy consistently across the 40 overs. “Inshallah, we will see Pakistan winning tomorrow. We are trying to play our best cricket. If we follow the plan for forty overs, we can beat any team,” he remarked.
The skipper reserved special praise for opener Saim Ayub, acknowledging his all-round contributions. He described Ayub as a promising player who has already impressed with his fielding and bowling and has the potential to serve Pakistan cricket for at least the next decade. Expectations, he noted, are equally high for Ayub’s batting performance in the all-important final.
Addressing off-field controversies, Agha dismissed external distractions, stating that the team’s sole objective is to win the Asia Cup.
Commenting on the recent debate surrounding the absence of a post-match handshake between Pakistan and India, he said such gestures are important for cricket and sportsmanship. “I have never seen a handshake between the two teams. Despite the deteriorating situation, handshakes have been done before. Not having a handshake is not good for cricket,” he said.
He also shed light on pitch conditions, explaining that earlier matches had favored spin bowlers, shaping the team’s approach.
Agha further highlighted the role of aggression in cricket, particularly among fast bowlers. “If you take away the aggression from the fast bowlers, nothing will be left. Every player knows how to control their emotions. Every player has the right to express their emotions, just don’t insult anyone,” he emphasized.
With his upbeat remarks, Agha signaled a determined mindset as Pakistan aims to reclaim Asia Cup glory.
