An Afghan national who entered the United States through the Biden administrationโs โOperation Allies Welcomeโ program has been arrested in Texas for allegedly posting a TikTok video suggesting he was constructing a bomb intended for the Fort Worth area.
The suspect, identified as Mohammad Dawood Alokozay, has been charged at the state level with making a terrorist threat, according to court documents cited by Fox News and the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
Alokozay was taken into custody on Tuesday in a coordinated operation by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force, a day before a separate shooting in Washington, DC.
The incident in Washington involved Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who also entered the US through the same resettlement program for Afghan nationals following the US military withdrawal from Afghanistan in August 2021. This program, initiated by former President Biden, was designed to resettle Afghans who assisted the US military and government during the 20-year conflict in Afghanistan.
Following the arrest and recent security incidents, President Donald Trump criticized Biden-era immigration policies. On his social media platform Truth Social, Trump announced that his administration would โpermanently pauseโ migration from all โThird World Countries,โ citing failures in vetting processes. He added that the plan would include cases approved under the Biden administration and called for terminating โmillions of Biden illegal admissionsโ while removing individuals โwho are not a net asset to the US.โ
Trump did not specify which countries would be affected or provide details about the timeline or implementation of the pause.
The arrest of Alokozay highlights ongoing concerns over national security and vetting of resettled individuals. Authorities continue to monitor social media and other communications for potential threats while emphasizing that law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in preventing attacks.
The DHS and state agencies have confirmed that investigations into Alokozayโs activities and any related threats are ongoing, and additional charges could follow as the case develops.
