ISLAMABAD: Actress Komal Aziz, who earned recognition through popular Pakistani dramas and later established herself as a successful entrepreneur, has revealed why she chose to leave the entertainment industry despite her growing fame.
In a candid recent interview, Komal said the showbiz environment was not conducive for people with an academic or professional background. “For educated people, the environment of the showbiz industry is not suitable,” she remarked, stressing that her decision was not influenced by financial reasons, since she was already managing a thriving business alongside her acting career.

Long Hours and Poor Working Conditions
Komal explained that the exhausting schedules on television drama sets were among the major factors behind her departure. She highlighted issues such as unclean washrooms, irregular meal times, and a lack of basic facilities for artists. The actress said these problems, combined with long working hours, negatively affected her physical and mental health.
Industry Politics and Lack of Friendships
Another factor that contributed to her decision was the toxicity and politics within the entertainment world. According to Komal, rivalries, favoritism, and unhealthy competition made the environment increasingly stressful. She also admitted that she never found genuine companionship during her years in the industry.
“No one in this industry makes real friends; friendships here only exist on Instagram and Facebook,” she said, pointing out the superficial nature of professional relationships in showbiz.
Focus on Entrepreneurship
By stepping away from acting, Komal has shifted her focus entirely to her entrepreneurial ventures. She expressed satisfaction with her decision, noting that her business offers her independence, stability, and a healthier lifestyle compared to the draining demands of the entertainment industry.
Her revelation has sparked discussions about the need for better working conditions in Pakistan’s entertainment sector, as well as greater mental health awareness for artists who often face intense pressures behind the glamour of the screen.
