American actress Christy Carlson Romano revealed that she was hospitalized after sustaining multiple injuries to her face during a shooting trip in Austin, Texas.
The Even Stevens star shared on Instagram that the incident occurred on February 7 while celebrating her husband Brendan Rooney’s 42nd birthday.
Accidental Shooting Leaves Romano Injured
Romano, 40, explained in a video that she had taken her husband to shoot clay pigeons as a birthday gift when another group nearby accidentally fired in an unsafe direction. She sustained injuries in five places, including one dangerously close to her right eye.
Despite the traumatic experience, she praised her husband for his quick response in rushing her to the hospital.
A Fragment Still Lodged Behind Her Eye
Doctors determined that a fragment remains behind her eye, but removing it surgically is currently too risky. Fortunately, Romano reassured fans that her vision remains unaffected and that her condition will continue to be monitored.
Reflecting on the incident, she shared, “I saw my life flash before my eyes,” emphasizing the importance of cherishing loved ones. “Hug the people around you every chance you can. Life can change in an instant.”
Romano also expressed deep gratitude to the medical staff and first responders who assisted her, calling them “amazing, superhero-like people” who provide care in critical moments.
