Authorities detained actress Aglaya Tarasova at Moscow’s Domodedovo Airport after cannabis oil was allegedly found in her vape.
Serious Charges
The 31-year-old star faces drug smuggling charges and could receive up to seven years in prison if convicted.
Conflicting Reports
Russian media outlets offered differing accounts of the arrest date, with claims ranging from late August to earlier this week.
Russian actress Aglaya Tarasova has been detained at Domodedovo Airport in Moscow on suspicion of drug smuggling, according to multiple media reports on Friday.
Law enforcement sources told the state-run news agency TASS that authorities discovered cannabis oil in her vape cartridge. The amount allegedly measured 0.38 grams, according to RIA Novosti.
Investigators quickly moved to request that the Domodedovsky City Court place Tarasova under house arrest. The 31-year-old actress is best known for her roles in the long-running TV series Interns and the 2017 romantic sports drama Ice.
If found guilty, Tarasova could face a prison sentence of up to seven years under Russian drug laws.
The exact timing of her detention remains unclear. Telegram channels linked to law enforcement claimed she was detained “two days ago.” However, Ostorozhno Novosti, a news outlet run by media figure Ksenia Sobchak, reported she was arrested on August 28. According to that account, Tarasova was returning from Tel Aviv and allegedly tried to pass through customs with the substance in her possession.
The case has drawn wider attention not only because of Tarasova’s fame but also due to her family background. She is the daughter of acclaimed actress Ksenia Rappoport, who has been openly critical of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This connection has fueled speculation and commentary across social media platforms.
For now, Tarasova awaits the court’s decision on house arrest while investigators pursue the case. The outcome could have a significant impact on both her career and public image in Russia’s tightly controlled entertainment industry.
