The Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre (ALC) is participating in the 53rd edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair (NDWBF) 2026, which is being held from January 10 to 18 at the Bharat Mandapam convention centre in New Delhi. The prestigious literary event is organised by the National Book Trust India and is one of the largest book fairs in South Asia.
The fair brings together more than 1,000 publishers from India and around the world, alongside authors, translators, and cultural professionals. It serves as a key platform for exchanging expertise, monitoring trends in publishing and digital transformation, and exploring new opportunities for international cultural cooperation.
ALCโs participation reflects its strategic commitment to promoting the Arabic language globally, strengthening the UAEโs presence at major international cultural forums, and deepening cultural ties between the UAE and India. The centreโs presence at the fair underscores the role of culture and language in fostering dialogue, mutual understanding, and collaboration between nations.
At its dedicated pavilion, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre is showcasing 31 carefully selected titles spanning a wide range of fields. These publications highlight the centreโs efforts to support Arabic publishing, translation initiatives, and the broader creative industries, while also introducing international audiences to contemporary Arabic thought, literature, and research.
Established in 1972, the New Delhi World Book Fair has grown into a major annual cultural event, featuring a rich and diverse programme. This includes author-focused pavilions, book launches, panel discussions, and dedicated spaces for children and young readers. Visitors can also engage in a variety of cultural, literary, artistic, and professional activities throughout the fair.
A key feature of the event is the New Delhi Rights Table (NDRT), which provides an important platform for publishers to negotiate translation and distribution rights. The fair also hosts specialised sessions for translators and publishing professionals from more than 50 countries, encouraging cross-cultural exchange and international collaboration within the global publishing industry.
Through its participation, the Abu Dhabi Arabic Language Centre continues to reinforce its role as a leading advocate for the Arabic language on the global stage, while contributing to meaningful cultural exchange at one of the worldโs most influential book fairs.
