Mumbai: Aamir Khan’s widely discussed film Sitaare Zameen Par will finally debut on OTT, ending months of anticipation following its unconventional release path. The sports comedy-drama will begin streaming on Sony LIV from April 3, aligning with the Good Friday weekend.
The platform announced the release on social media, describing the film as a heartwarming story centered on hope, healing, and emotional growth. Consequently, fans who missed its theatrical run or pay-per-view release can now watch it from home.
Initially, after its cinema release in June 2025, the film skipped traditional streaming platforms. Instead, it premiered as a rental on YouTube through the Aamir Khan Talkies channel for ₹100. Aamir Khan explained that this strategy aimed to protect cinema revenues and support theatrical distribution.
Directed by R S Prasanna, the film serves as a spiritual successor to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. It follows Gulshan Arora, a temperamental basketball coach played by Aamir Khan, who must complete community service after a drunk driving incident.
As part of his sentence, he trains a team of neurodivergent players. However, what begins as punishment gradually transforms into a journey of empathy, resilience, and personal growth.
Meanwhile, Genelia Deshmukh stars alongside a talented ensemble cast, enhancing the film’s emotional depth and authenticity.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions with a reported budget of ₹90 crore, the film performed strongly at the box office. It earned over ₹265 crore worldwide, securing its position among the most successful Bollywood releases of 2025.
