ISLAMABAD: The Meteorological Department has issued a warning for heavy monsoon rains across Pakistan, including Islamabad, from August 1 to August 6.
The forecast predicts thunderstorms, strong winds, and hail, with significant rainfall expected in various regions.
From July 31 to August 6, Kashmir and Muzaffarabad are likely to experience heavy rain, hail, strong winds, and thundershowers. Rain with thunder and lightning is also expected in Islamabad, Sargodha, and surrounding areas, with stormy conditions predicted in many locations.
The department has warned of potential flooding in mountainous areas, rivers, and streams in regions including Islamabad and Rawalpindi due to the expected heavy rainfall.
Urban flooding is also a concern in Sialkot, Gujranwala, and Narowal from August 2 to August 5.
The risk of landslides has been highlighted in the hilly areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, and Balochistan.
According to the Meteorological Department, the heavy rain, wind, and thunder could damage weak infrastructure.
Rain with thunder is also likely in the eastern areas of Balochistan, while Sindh is expected to see heavy rain and thunderstorms in Mithi, Umerkot, Thatta, and Badin from August 2 to August 6.
From August 2 to August 6, heavy rain with strong winds is forecasted in Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, and Dera Ghazi Khan. Chitral, Dir, Swat, and Swabi are also expected to experience heavy rains and thundershowers from August 1 to August 6.
In Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, heavy rains are anticipated from August 3 to August 6. The Meteorological Department has urged all relevant agencies to remain on high alert to manage potential hazards associated with the heavy rainfall.
