PML-N has called for a general council meeting on May 28th

The huddle is expected to determine crucial alterations in the party’s leadership.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz has rescheduled its general council meeting to May 28, as announced by Punjab Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb. This decision follows consultations with key party leaders and aligns with the anniversary of Pakistan’s nuclear tests, known as “Youm-e-Takbeer”.

Initially set for May 11th, the meeting carries significance as it is anticipated to bring about crucial changes in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leadership.

According to sources, the expected reshuffle might involve former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and senior leader Khawaja Saad Rafique taking on significant roles.

There are speculations that Rafique could assume the position of the party’s secretary general, potentially replacing Ahsan Iqbal, who has expressed his intention to step down from the role.

“I conveyed my intention to resign from the post years ago,” stated Iqbal, who presently manages the Ministry of Planning and Development. The anticipated restructuring of leadership may also include Nawaz Sharif’s potential reinstatement as the party president.

The statement was corroborated by Pakistan Muslim League-N Punjab chapter President Rana Sanaullah, who affirmed, “Nawaz will once again spearhead the party. PML-N will progress under his guidance,” during a media briefing in Lahore.
