PM Shehbaz Sharif Lands in Riyadh for WEF Special Meeting


Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday to attend a special meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) titled ‘Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development’, scheduled from April 28-29.

Welcoming him at Riyadh Royal airport were Deputy Governor of the Riyadh region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Bin Abdul Aziz, Pakistan’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, and embassy personnel.

Invited by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and WEF Founder and Executive Chairman Professor Klaus Schwab, the Prime Minister is accompanied by a distinguished delegation including Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb. They will participate in WEF discussions covering trade and investment measures, new investment frameworks, supply chain restructuring, sustainable growth, and the evolving energy landscape.

Prime Minister Sharif aims to articulate Pakistan’s perspective on global health, financial technologies, information technology, comprehensive development, regional cooperation, and balanced energy usage for global development.

He will also highlight Pakistan’s abundant investment opportunities during the summit and is expected to hold bilateral meetings with influential world leaders, heads of international organizations, and other eminent personalities on the sidelines.

The WEF Special Meeting on Global Collaboration, Growth, and Energy for Development will see the participation of approximately 1,000 leaders from business, government, and academia. The focus will be on exploring innovative pathways to reignite global growth amidst the challenges posed by an increasingly fragmented geopolitical and economic landscape.
