PTI to Hold Talks with COAS and DG ISI Instead of Reconciliation with PML-N: Shehryar Afridi

PTI senior leader Shehryar Afridi has announced that his party will engage in dialogues with the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) and the Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (DG ISI), rather than with what he referred to as “rejected people” who entered parliament through “Form 47”.

Accusing the incumbent government, led by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), of being comprised of “rejected people” controlled remotely, Afridi emphasized that ruling parties were allegedly “supported by the establishment”.

Responding to calls for reconciliation, Afridi asserted that it is futile for the former ruling party to engage in dialogues with individuals rejected by the nation. He reiterated PTI’s commitment to Pakistan’s betterment, stating that PTI founder Imran Khan seeks dialogue with all stakeholders for the nation’s improvement, yet has not received a response.

Emphasizing Imran Khan’s reluctance for any National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), Afridi clarified that PTI’s intentions are aligned with national interests and do not oppose state institutions. He hinted at upcoming talks with the army chief and DG ISI, although no further details were provided, and no other party leader has confirmed this statement.

Earlier statements from PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan refuted claims of receiving messages for dialogues, asserting that PTI would not engage in secret talks. This stance comes after PML-N’s Rana Sanaullah extended a reconciliation offer to Imran Khan, citing the country’s fragile economy and the need to resolve political tensions.

Sanaullah’s call for dialogues followed PML-N’s claimed victories in recent elections. However, PTI remains firm in its rejection of secret talks and its commitment to open dialogue for the nation’s betterment.
