WhatsApp Users Can Share Documents, Pictures, and Videos Without Internet

Reports indicate that WhatsApp, a widely-used messaging platform, is in the process of developing a groundbreaking feature that will transform how users share files.

According to leaked information, the company is actively working on a mechanism to facilitate the sharing of photos, videos, music, and documents even when users are offline.

Screenshots from the latest WhatsApp beta for Android offer a glimpse into the permissions required for this upcoming feature.

A key element of this innovation is its ability to identify nearby devices capable of offline file sharing.

WhatsApp will use Bluetooth to scan for nearby devices, enabling local file sharing. Notably, users will have the option to disable this functionality if they choose.

Additionally, the app will need permission to access system files, the photo gallery, and location data on users’ devices.

To maintain data security, shared files will be encrypted, and phone numbers will be masked.

This forthcoming feature shares similarities with peer-to-peer file-sharing apps like ShareIT, which allow users to exchange files without relying on cellular or Wi-Fi connections.

While WhatsApp has not provided an official release date for this feature, its presence in beta testing suggests that its launch is imminent.

Once introduced, this innovation has the potential to greatly improve the convenience and security of file sharing for WhatsApp users worldwide.
