Netflix Set to Debut First Pakistani Series

Once again, social media is abuzz with reports of Pakistan’s inaugural foray into the realm of Netflix, spurred by recent claims. Entertainment journalist Hasan Kazmi ignited the discussion on Twitter, suggesting that Pakistan’s maiden Netflix project is on the verge of realization. Spearheaded by director Momina Duraid, the series is said to be an adaptation of Farhat Ishtiaq’s novel “#JoBacheHainSangSamaitLo.”

Initially, speculation centered around Fawad Khan and Ayesha Umar as the frontrunners for the lead roles. However, subsequent rumors hinted at Hamza Ali Abbasi, accompanied by his wife Naimal Khawar, and Mahira Khan taking center stage.

In Kazmi’s tweet, he unveiled the star-studded cast featuring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Hania Aamir in prominent roles for the adaptation of Ishtiaq’s celebrated work. Additionally, he disclosed that Momina Duraid is set to helm the directorial responsibilities for the series.

Farhat Ishtiaq’s illustrious portfolio boasts of remarkable contributions to Pakistani drama, including iconic productions like “Humsafar,” “Diyar-e-Dil,” “Udaari,” “Mata-e-Jan,” and “Yaqeen ka Safar.”

Notably, “Humsafar” and “Udaari” emerged as blockbuster dramas, catapulting Fawad Khan and Mahira Khan to global prominence.

While an official announcement regarding the title is still pending from the project’s stakeholders, Momina Duraid Productions has reportedly been diligently pursuing the launch of this long-anticipated venture into the world of Netflix.
