UK’s Army chief praises the command of COAS Asim Munir

In London, the UK’s Chief of General Staff, General Sir Patrick Sanders, commended the leadership of Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff, General Asim Munir, on Friday. He also acknowledged the “honesty and integrity” displayed by the officers within the Pakistan Armed Forces.

The Army and Navy Club in London held a luncheon for approximately 50 senior British military personnel from the Quetta Association, who had studied and served with the Pakistan Army’s Command and Staff College over the past 50 years.

During this event, the British army chief delivered a speech, acting as the chief guest, and discussed the Pakistani military’s role and contributions.

As reported by the Pakistan High Commission in London, General Sanders acknowledged the exceptional professional finesse and expertise displayed by the Pakistan military. He further emphasized that Pakistan held a significant priority in multiple aspects of Defense Association and Defense Collaboration throughout his term, in close partnership with the UK Army.

The British military officer discussed his journeys to Pakistan and expressed disappointment that his forthcoming visit would be his final one while wearing his uniform.

According to the press release, during his speech, the British general elaborated on the importance of Pakistan, a strategically crucial nation, being geographically located right at the heart of the East and the West.

General Sanders remarked, “The Pakistan army, renowned for its resilience and defensive prowess, not only safeguards its nation but also extends crucial assistance to its allied countries.”

Numerous distinguished British military personnel attended the event, where they acknowledged the proficiency and adaptability of the Pakistan Army. Among the notable attendees were Lieutenant General Sir Alistar Irwin (Class of 1980), Lieutenant General Anthony Palmer (Class of 1981), Brigadier Nick Thompson (Class of 1971), Brigadier Tony Berry (Class of 1970), and Major General Seumas Kerr (Class of 1985).

According to the High Commission, the purpose of the event was to celebrate and honor the lasting memories of the British officer’s time spent in Quetta.

Colonel Taimur Rahat, the Army and Air Adviser at Pakistan High Commission, presided over the event and discussed the college’s accomplishments.

He highlighted the importance of the institution in officer training and development since 1905. In addition, during the event, souvenirs were presented to the chief guest and other distinguished attendees by the spouse of the Pakistani High Commissioner.
