Pop star Daud Kim gets land and permission to build a mosque in South Korea

SEOUL: Daud Kim, a Muslim K-pop sensation, excitedly shared news with his followers and revealed his plan to construct a mosque on a plot of land he acquired in Incheon, South Korea.

Donning a simple white T-shirt paired with a black jacket and baggy pants, Kim posed against the serene backdrop of the clear blue sky, holding up the signed contract.

“Finally, with your support, I’ve secured land to build a Masjid in Incheon,” Kim captioned the post. “This spot will soon be transformed into a mosque. It’s surreal… I intend to establish a place of prayer and an Islamic podcast studio for Da’wah to Koreans.”

Expressing his desire to enrich his homeland with Muslim places of worship, Kim acknowledged the magnitude of his vision but remained hopeful. He aspires to one day echo the call to prayer through the streets.

To turn his vision into reality, Kim appealed to his fanbase for financial aid, sharing details of his bank and PayPal accounts.

Echoing his initial announcement, Kim shared another video two days later, radiating joy as he strolled across the land earmarked for his future mosque.

Also known as Jay Kim, Daud Kim is a multifaceted South Korean entertainer, recognized as a singer, actor, and YouTube personality.

His conversion to Islam in September 2019 marked a significant personal journey. Since then, he has undertaken Umrah, a sacred Islamic pilgrimage.

Muslims form a minority in South Korea, primarily consisting of migrant workers and international students. Kim’s initiative aims to bolster infrastructure for Muslims in the country.
