Mehwish Hayat: Juggling Independence, Career, and Relationships

Mehwish Hayat, renowned for her roles in both acting and singing, has been making waves on social media since landing a lead role in the Eid film “Daghabaaz Dil” and collaborating with Bollywood rapper Yo Yo Honey Singh. Despite her flourishing career, the multifaceted talent remains resolutely single. In an interview with Suhail Warraich, Mehwish opened up about the reasons behind her relationship status.

“To be frank,” she began, “People find me intimidating! Perhaps it’s my personality that unsettles or intimidates those around me. I don’t consciously intimidate anyone, but it’s true that people think twice before approaching me, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing, I suppose.”

Having established this barrier to deter time-wasters, Mehwish explained that physical appearance wouldn’t factor much if she were to seek a serious romantic relationship. “Looks are insignificant,” she asserted. “Personality is key. I value kindness, culture, and a good sense of humor. Since I’m naturally serious, I seek someone who can balance that out.”

In a society that often prioritizes fair skin, Mehwish emphasized, “Skin color and appearance are irrelevant. It’s the beauty of one’s heart and soul that truly matters.”

Despite her pragmatic nature, Mehwish hinted at a desire for romance in a partner. “I’m practical, but a bit of romance wouldn’t hurt,” she confessed. “I’m grounded, so I appreciate someone who can add a touch of romance to my life.”

While Mehwish hasn’t yet encountered the perfect match, she jokingly confessed her longtime crush on Hollywood heartthrob Leonardo DiCaprio. “Leonardo DiCaprio, if you’re listening and interested, I’m all ears!” she quipped.

On a serious note, Mehwish stressed the gravity of marriage for someone like her, who considers herself a perfectionist. “Marriage is a significant commitment,” she emphasized. “It’s not just about two individuals; it involves two families.”

As a career-driven woman unwilling to compromise her ambitions, Mehwish explained, “Marriage requires a significant mental and emotional investment, which I’m not ready to make at this stage of my career.”

Labeling herself a perfectionist, Mehwish expressed her desire for a partner who can match her intellectually, financially, and emotionally. “I need someone who adds value to my life, supports my aspirations, and understands the importance of my work,” she stated.

Asserting her independence, Mehwish clarified that she doesn’t currently feel the practical need for a partner. “I’m self-reliant,” she affirmed. “If I were to marry, either my career or my marriage would have to make sacrifices.”

With no immediate plans for a partner, Mehwish intends to continue dedicating herself to her thriving career, which shows no signs of slowing down.
