Azhar Mahmood Appointed Head Coach of Pakistan’s Cricket Team for Series Against New Zealand

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the appointment of former Pakistan all-rounder Azhar Mahmood as the head coach of the Pakistan men’s cricket team for the forthcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand. This decision was communicated through a press statement issued by the PCB.

Azhar Mahmood, a stalwart of Pakistani cricket, has an impressive track record, having represented his country in 164 international matches. Throughout his illustrious career, Mahmood garnered 162 wickets and contributed 2,421 runs with the bat. He brings valuable experience to his new role, having previously served as the bowling coach for the Pakistan men’s cricket team from 2016 to 2019.

Joining Mahmood in the coaching setup are Mohammad Yousuf, who will serve as the batting coach, and Saeed Ajmal, who will continue his tenure as the spin bowling coach. Ajmal previously held this position during the team’s tours of Australia and New Zealand. Additionally, Wahab Riaz has been appointed as the senior team manager, further enriching the coaching staff with his expertise.

The much-anticipated five-match T20I series between Pakistan and New Zealand is scheduled to be held in Rawalpindi and Lahore, spanning from April 18 to April 27.

The Pakistan team for the upcoming T20Is against New Zealand will be accompanied by a team of support personnel. The team manager will be Mansoor Rana, the field coach will be Aftab Khan, the physiotherapist will be Cliffe Deacon, the strength and conditioning coach will be Drikus Saiman, and the analyst will be Talha Butt. The team’s management will also include Irtiza Komail as the security manager, Raza Kitchlew as the media and digital manager, Zain Maqsood as the videographer, Dr. Khurram Sarwar as the doctor, and Mohammad Imran as the masseur.

Moreover, the Pakistan cricket team for the upcoming series against New Zealand is slated to be unveiled on Tuesday, April 9.
