Tarar Denies Khan’s Claims Regarding Toshakhana Case

Toshakhana Case

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar vehemently dismissed incarcerated former prime minister Imran Khan’s accusations against senior military leadership regarding the Toshakhana case, for which Khan was sentenced to 14 years in prison before his sentence was suspended by the high court last week.

In a social media post on X, Tarar labeled Khan’s allegations as “totally false, fabricated, and baseless,” asserting that they lacked any supporting evidence.

Tarar further alleged that both Khan and his spouse, Bushra Bibi, were involved in the Toshakhana scandal, with purported audio recordings providing evidence of their corruption and embezzlement.

Khan’s accusations against the military leadership were promptly rebutted by Tarar, who characterized them as indicative of a “state of panic and despair.”

He criticized Khan’s party, without explicitly naming it, for orchestrating attacks on state institutions and sensitive installations on May 9 following Khan’s arrest in the graft case. Tarar asserted that such actions reflect a policy of disrespect towards state institutions and martyrs.

Regarding Khan’s state during his time in Adiala jail, Tarar stated that Khan exhibited signs of panic. Additionally, the transcript of Khan’s conversation with reporters from Adiala jail alleged that some PTI leaders maintained contact with the military establishment, including former PTI leader Ali Zaidi.

Khan reiterated his refusal to bow down to any form of servitude, declaring his preference for death over subjugation.

Moreover, Khan referenced a letter purportedly written by six Islamabad High Court judges, revealing instances of intelligence agency operatives threatening them.

This claim further fueled Khan’s narrative of alleged interference and manipulation in his case.

In conclusion, Tarar emphasized that truth cannot be obscured by propaganda and lies. He stood firm in refuting Khan’s allegations and reiterated his commitment to upholding the integrity of state institutions despite the challenges posed by unsubstantiated accusations and political turmoil.
