The US is maintaining heightened security measures and anticipating a potential Iranian retaliation against Israeli or American targets in the region, following Israel’s attack on the Iranian consulate in Syria.
This information was shared by a US official, who also confirmed a CNN report suggesting the possible attack might occur within the next week.
On Monday, it is believed that Israeli aircraft conducted an attack on Iran’s consulate in Damascus, resulting in the death of an Iranian military leader and intensifying Israel’s conflict with its regional adversaries.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran reported that this incident led to the demise of seven Iranian military advisors, among them Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a prominent figure in the Quds Force – a specialized foreign intelligence and paramilitary unit.
In response to the attack, Iran asserts its entitlement to retaliate decisively. Recently, US President Joe Biden held a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address the threat posed by Iran.

This marks the first time the extensive embassy complex has been directly affected, as global tensions escalate due to Israel’s conflict in Gaza and the increasing violence between Israel and Iran’s allied forces.
A UK-based organization focused on monitoring conflicts, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, reported that eight individuals, among them several Guard members, lost their lives. This unfortunate incident occurred due to Israeli missiles causing the destruction of a building annexed to the Iranian embassy.
