Police authorities allegedly involved in the abduction of merchants for extortion purposes

In Rawalpindi, an investigation led by the Senior Superintendent of Police Operations uncovered that three law enforcement officers were implicated in the abduction of two traders for monetary gain.

In the initial findings of the inquiry led by SSP Operations, it was discovered that six individuals, comprising three police officers in uniform, were involved in the kidnapping of two businessmen.

The two traders experienced a four-hour captivity and were eventually freed upon the payment of 700,000 Indian Rupees as a form of compensation.

Two individuals, who are police officers, have been identified in connection with a kidnapping incident. A case has been filed against the accused at the Cantt police station, under relevant kidnapping charges. Additionally, it was reported that the kidnappers recorded a video involving the abducted businessmen.

On the 11th of March, Deputy Inspector General of Police (DSP) Ahmed Karim Jilani was apprehended in the act of illicitly transporting Gutka and other prohibited substances.

Subsequently, Sindh’s Inspector General of Police (IGP), Riffat Mukhtar, also intervened and suspended the DSP. He instructed the DSP, Ahmed Karim Jilani, to report to the Central Police Office. During this time, Jilani was apprehended by customs officials near Jamshoro while he was in the process of transporting Gutka and other illicit substances.

Subsequently, the IGP instructed an investigation into the suspended DSP and designated DIG Tanveer Alam Odho from Mirpurkhas as the inquiry officer.

On March 4th, prior to this, a police officer from Karachi was apprehended due to accusations of his participation in extortion and drug sales.

During a strategic operation on Karachi Super Highway, the police force managed to seize illicit substances from ASI Imran, who was on duty at Gulshan-e-Maymar and identified as the accused individual.

On January 12th, a suspect apprehended at Site Superhighway disclosed during interrogation that a police officer had provided the firearm involved in the crime.

Upon closer examination, it was discovered that the motorcycle belonged to ASI Imran, as it was registered under his name. Additionally, he was making efforts to assist the detained individual during this situation.
