Despite the intense fire engulfing the vessel, PNS YARMOOK not only safely rescued all eight crew members from the sea but also managed to extinguish the fire onboard using its modern firefighting equipment.
The rescue and humanitarian assistance operations conducted by the Pakistan Navy in international waters demonstrate the vigilance and professionalism of the force. The Navy reiterated its commitment to effectively ensuring the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) in accordance with UNCLOS while safeguarding national maritime frontiers.
Previously, in a concerted effort to combat illicit activities at sea, the Pakistan Navy, in collaboration with law enforcement agencies, conducted a joint intelligence-based operation in the North Arabian Sea. This operation, coordinated through the Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre, led to the confiscation of a significant quantity of liquor valued at Rs145.6 million.
The operation involved active participation from key stakeholders, including the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) and Pakistan Customs Intelligence. A total of 4104 bottles of illicit liquor were intercepted and confiscated as a result of the joint effort.
The seized contraband was promptly handed over to customs authorities for further legal proceedings, highlighting the commitment to upholding the rule of law and prosecuting offenders.
