Prime Minister (PM) of Italy Giorgia Meloni unveiled plans for a one-billion-euro investment fund aimed at fostering artificial intelligence (AI) projects while advocating for ethical guidelines to govern AI’s utilization. Speaking at an event in Rome ahead of a G7 technology ministers’ meeting, where AI is a focal point, Meloni emphasized the fund’s role in seeding further investment to ki cultivate an “Italian approach” to AI development.
The investment fund, comprising both fresh capital and existing resources, aims to spur innovation and attract additional investments, fostering the growth of AI initiatives tailored to Italy’s needs. Meloni underscored Italy’s commitment to crafting its own legislation, supplementing the EU’s ongoing efforts to establish regulatory frameworks for AI.
