KARACHI: As per reports from Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCCA) sources, there’s anticipation that the ban imposed by the European Union and the United Kingdom on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight operations will soon be lifted.
During the 43rd E-Kachehri chaired by the Director General of Civil Aviation, held on Monday, there was a sense of optimism that a positive update regarding the lifting of the ban could be expected as early as May.
Notably, discussions in the E-Kachehri also shed light on the nearing finalization of a comprehensive policy concerning drone operations. This forthcoming policy document, once finalized, will be readily accessible on the PCAA website, providing clear regulations and guidelines for drone activities.
The importance of accountability in air accidents was also underscored, emphasizing the need for adherence to specific procedures and requirements in such cases.
Moreover, the session emphasized the significance of raising awareness among passengers regarding their rights, particularly in cases of flight cancellations or delays. Airlines were urged to ensure proper documentation and reporting, especially when attributing such issues to technical faults.

On the front of immigration procedures, it was reiterated that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) holds responsibility for ensuring adequate staffing at immigration counters, addressing concerns about insufficient personnel that have been previously raised.
Furthermore, directives were issued to allocate designated spaces for special persons at the parking lot of Quetta International Airport. Additionally, clear signage installation was highlighted to improve navigation and accessibility for passengers within airport premises. These measures aim to enhance the overall passenger experience and streamline airport operations.
