Preparations are in full swing for the anticipated visit of a high-level Iranian delegation to Pakistan in April, as confirmed by diplomatic sources, reported ARY News on Monday.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the Iranian delegation is expected to consist of approximately 20 to 25 officials, including two to three senior ministers. The primary purpose of their visit is to attend the inauguration of the Pakistan chapter of the Iran-Pakistan Gas Pipeline.
In addition to the pipeline inauguration, the delegation is slated to engage in signing numerous memoranda of understanding (MoUs) about various sectors, including bilateral trade, energy, security, investment, and defense.
Furthermore, there are speculations about a potential visit to Pakistan by Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi later this year. Diplomatic sources suggest that during President Raisi’s visit, both countries are likely to finalize a free trade agreement, which is expected to significantly boost mutual trade volumes.
The proposed free trade agreement holds the promise of providing preferential tariff rates and other concessions to products from both nations, thereby fostering greater economic cooperation and integration.
In anticipation of these high-level engagements, an inter-ministerial session is scheduled to be held in Pakistan prior to the visit, underscoring the significance attached to enhancing bilateral ties and cooperation between Pakistan and Iran.
The forthcoming interactions between the leadership of the two neighboring countries are poised to further strengthen their longstanding relationship across multiple fronts, paving the way for mutually beneficial collaborations in the years ahead.
