Najaf Hameed, the brother of ex-spymaster Faiz Hameed, was arrested after a Rawalpindi court rejected his bail plea in a bribery case on Monday, according to sources.
The anti-graft officials took Hameed into custody and departed for Chakwal following the court’s orders. Hameed had previously obtained protective bail after being implicated in the bribery case.
In April 2023, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) initiated an inquiry against Najaf Hameed for allegations of out-of-turn promotion and possessing assets beyond his means. Subsequently, the ACE requested records of land owned by Hameed from the regional deputy commissioners of Rawalpindi and Chakwal.
On February 13, Hameed was suspended from his position as Naib Tehsildar in Chakwal due to alleged misconduct, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation.
