Stuntman Logan Holladay, popularly known as “The Fall Guy,” has made cinematic history by shattering a Guinness World Record previously held since 2006 by Adam Kirley in “Casino Royale”.
At a special screening of the movie on March 13 in Los Angeles, the film’s leading actors, Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, bestowed upon Holladay a Guinness World Record certificate to commemorate his extraordinary accomplishment.
Holladay’s groundbreaking feat involved achieving the most cannon rolls performed in a car. Surpassing the previous record of seven rolls set in the iconic “James Bond” film “Casino Royale,” Holladay executed an impressive eight and a half rolls.
Universal Pictures elaborated on the cannon roll stunt, describing it as a classic maneuver dating back to the early days of cinema. Director David Leitch paid tribute to Holladay’s remarkable skills and dedication to his craft.
It entails fitting a cannon-like apparatus beneath a car, which propels the vehicle toward the ground. Once the car reaches a designated speed, the mechanism triggers, initiating a sequence of rolls. Holladay flawlessly executed the stunt behind a modified Jeep Grand Cherokee equipped with an external fiberglass body.
Reflecting on the challenging stunt, Holladay shared, “After two practice runs and one real take, we had one car and one shot left. After I hit the eight-and-a-half rolls, I had a pretty good feeling that I had broken the record because it felt like the spinning was never going to stop. It was a surreal moment, and Iโm incredibly proud of what the team achieved.” Holladay’s achievement stands as a testament to the artistry and precision of stunt performers in the world of cinema.
