Ambassador Wada Mitsuhiro of Japan hosted a reception at his official residence to honor 11 Pakistani students who have been granted MEXT Research scholarships by Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology.

During the pre-departure orientation ceremony, Ambassador Wada extended his congratulations to the scholarship recipients and wished them success as they embark on their journey to study in Japan’s prestigious universities. The event was attended by numerous Pakistani alumni of Japanese universities, who generously shared their insights and experiences with the new scholarship recipients.

The ambassador emphasized that receiving the scholarships presents a valuable opportunity for the students not only to acquire knowledge but also to immerse themselves in Japanese culture and society. He encouraged the scholars to actively engage in extracurricular activities and prioritize learning the Japanese language, acknowledging the differences they may encounter in their new environment.

Ambassador Wada reassured the students that while adjusting to life in Japan might pose challenges, the warmth and hospitality of the Japanese people would help them navigate any difficulties they encounter.

The MEXT research scholarships, awarded to 11 students pursuing Master’s and Doctorate degrees for the academic year 2024-25, aim to facilitate advanced studies and research in various disciplines at renowned Japanese universities. The scholarship, fully funded by the Japanese government, is a flagship program designed to support individuals seeking higher education opportunities worldwide.

The ambassador expressed his hope that the scholarship recipients would return to Pakistan equipped with valuable knowledge and experiences, ready to contribute to the country’s development. He emphasized the role of the scholars as ambassadors of friendship between Japan and Pakistan, along with other alumni.

Ambassador Wada commended the mutual cooperation between Japan and Pakistan, particularly praising MAAP for its efforts in strengthening bilateral relations through the promotion of Japanese educational and cultural activities.
