Moon Sighted in Pakistan, First Roza of Ramadan Tomorrow

Ramadan

PESHAWAR: The advent of Ramadan heralds a sacred time for Muslims in Pakistan, as the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee officially confirmed the sighting of the Ramadan moon, paving the way for the observance of the first Roza (fast) across the country on the following day, Tuesday.

The announcement was made by the chairman of the moon sighting committee, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad, after a crucial meeting held in Peshawar.

Representatives from diverse schools of thought gathered at this significant huddle to collectively ascertain the commencement of the ninth Islamic month. Before the official announcement, reports surfaced that the Ramadan moon had been sighted in both Lahore and Peshawar.

While Ramadan had already commenced in various parts of the world, including the Middle East and Europe, astronomical parameters indicated a high probability of the moon being sighted in Pakistan on the same day.

The moon sighting committee had previously appealed to all Pakistanis for collaboration, expressing hopes that the holy month would commence uniformly across the nation.

Simultaneously, zonal and district Ruet-e-Hilal committees convened their meetings on Shaban 29 after Asr prayers to engage in the crucial task of Ramadan moon sighting for the Hijri year 1445.

This annual observance holds profound religious significance, with millions of Pakistanis and billions of Muslims worldwide partaking in fasting from dawn till sunset. The duration of fasting varies between 12 to 17 hours, contingent on geographical locations globally.

Ramadan in Pakistan, akin to many other countries, witnesses an upsurge in charitable activities and public food drives. Communities establish roadside stalls to cater to those returning home in the evening, fostering an environment of compassion and generosity during this sacred month.
