Islamabad: An slamabad district and session court made a significant decision on Thursday, overturning a trial court’s verdict that had declared Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur as a proclaimed offender in a case involving illegal weapons and liquor possession, as reported by Aaj News.
The court nullified the proceedings initiated under sections 87 and 88 of the Pakistan Penal Code against Gandapur, accepting surety bonds worth Rs50,000.
Ali Amin Gandapur, the recently elected Chief Minister of KPK, has been entangled in various assault and corruption cases across multiple cities, including Rawalpindi, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala, according to reports.
The background of the case dates back to 2016 when police filed a First Information Report (FIR) against Gandapur for the possession of illegal weapons and liquor. The incident occurred when Gandapur’s car was stopped and searched at a checkpoint on the Rukhsana Bangash road while en route to Imran Khan’s residence in Bani Gala.
During the search, law enforcement officers claimed to have discovered illegal weapons and ammunition in Gandapur’s vehicle. The confiscated items, including four Kalashnikovs, ammunition, a tear-gas fire gun, and bulletproof vests, were reportedly displayed at the Bara Kahu police station in Islamabad.
The decision by the Islamabad court marks a significant development in the legal proceedings surrounding Gandapur’s case. The reversal of the proclaimed offender status represents a notable turn of events, potentially impacting the ongoing investigations and legal actions against the KPK Chief Minister.
