Uzbekistan Opens its Doors for Year-Long Tourist Experiences

Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is poised to launch an innovative tourist visa program, enabling international visitors to enjoy unrestricted stays of up to a year in the country, according to a report by VisaGuide.

The initiative, titled “Uzbekistan is My Second Home,” specifically targets affluent global travelers possessing substantial academic knowledge, life experience, and valuable skills.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has concurrently revealed an ambitious three-year plan aimed at developing the nation’s tourism industry. As part of this strategy, major Uzbek cities are slated to receive approximately $2.4 million in subsidies, with the primary objective of reducing the cost of airline tickets.

The groundwork for the introduction of the new “Uzbekistan Is My 2nd Home” immigration visa commenced in 2020, with initial plans projecting a two-month timeline for its development.

This groundbreaking visa initiative is designed to accommodate specialists, allowing them to reside in Uzbekistan either individually or with their family members.

In a comprehensive report, Uzbek authorities noted that a noteworthy influx of seven million foreign citizens visited the country for tourism purposes in 2023.

This figure signifies a substantial 1.3 times increase compared to the previous year, 2022, during which Uzbekistan welcomed over 5.2 million tourists from various corners of the globe.

The move to attract international visitors with diverse backgrounds and experiences aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader vision for economic and cultural enrichment.

By facilitating extended stays and promoting tourism, the country aims to position itself as an attractive destination for a global audience seeking unique and immersive experiences.

As the program unfolds, it is expected to contribute significantly to the growth and vitality of Uzbekistan’s burgeoning tourism sector.
