PTI Issues Statement: Dissociation from Online Personalities Adil Raja and Haider Mehdi

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Publicly Disengages from Notable Figures Adil Raja and Haider Mehdi, Encouraging Public Caution. In a Video Address, PTI Leader Asad Qaiser, Surrounded by Sher Afzal Marwat and Other Party Comrades, Declared PTI’s Lack of Affiliation with Raja and Mehdi.

Qaiser Stresses: PTI Possesses Its Own Media Representatives; Consequently, Only Authorized Statements Hold Validity Exalted Statement: Asad Qaiser Declares PTI’s Absolute Disconnection from Raja and Mehdi. The Very Same YouTube Personalities, He Reveals, Vigorously Opposed Qureshi and Parvez Elahi. A PTI Leader Emphatically Advocates for the Dominance of the Constitution and Legal System.

“Since PTI Possesses Its Own Media and Spokespersons, Qaiser Insisted, Only Official Statements Should Be Recognized,” He Assertively Stated, Condemning the Libelous Campaign Waged by Them Against Marwat. Earlier, the PTI Leader Revealed that the Same YouTubers Had Led Social Media Crusades Opposing Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Parvez Elahi. Furthermore, He Affirmed PTI Leaders’ Unwavering Resistance, Not Against the Military, but Rather Focused on the Constitution and Legal System. Quoting the PTI Founder’s Assertion, He Emphasized Their Devotion to Upholding the Nation and the Army.

“We Fervently Pursue the Dominance of the Constitution and Law,” He Persistently Stressed.

Raja and Mehdi Face Court-Martial

On November 25, 2023, Retired Pakistan Army Officers Raja and Mehdi Confronted Legal Consequences:

In a significant development, on November 25, 2023, Major (retired) Adil Farooq Raja and Captain (retired) Haider Raza Mehdi, two retired officers of the Pakistan Army, faced legal repercussions. They were convicted and sentenced by a Field General Court Martial (FGCM) for charges of “inciting sedition” under the Army Act and violations of the provisions of the Official Secrets Act. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) communicated that the retired officers were found guilty on the 7th and 9th of October 2023, following a just judicial process. They were sentenced to 14 years of rigorous imprisonment for Major (retd) Raja and 12 years for Captain (retd) Mehdi under the Pakistan Army Act of 1952. This pertains to charges of inciting sedition among army personnel, leading to discharge of duties, and violations of the Official Secrets Act of 1923 concerning espionage and acts detrimental to the state’s safety and interests.

On November 21, 2023, the ranks of both officers were forfeited as a result of the awarded sentence. At present, both court-martialed former servicemen are based outside Pakistan.
