LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz recently presided over a special meeting aimed at discussing the implementation of an ambitious project focused on constructing 100,000 houses for low-income families throughout the province.
During the meeting, CM Maryam emphasized the need for a detailed plan to effectively execute the ‘Apna Ghar, Apni Chhat’ housing initiative. Notable attendees included former senator Pervaiz Rasheed, MPA Azma Bukhari, the chief secretary, the senior member of the Board of Revenue, the planning and development chairman, secretaries of housing and finance, the Lahore commissioner, and other officials.
Addressing the gathering, Maryam Nawaz highlighted the importance of providing shelter to those in need and urged authorities to expedite the construction of over 3,000 houses in every district of Punjab. She stressed the urgency of preparing model houses within six weeks to promptly initiate the project.
Moreover, the CM instructed keeping down payments and monthly installments at a minimum to ensure accessibility for low-income individuals. She reiterated her commitment to fulfilling the promise of providing ready homes to the low-income homeless, aligning with her manifesto.

Simultaneously, the first phase of the Punjab cabinet formation is expected to take place within the next one to two days, with 15 ministers taking the oath at the Governor House.
The initial phase will focus on key portfolios, with anticipated appointments including Marriyum Aurangzeb as the planning and development and forests minister, Azma Bukhari as the provincial information minister, and others handling vital departments like health, food, and excise.
This proactive approach underscores the commitment of Maryam Nawaz’s government to fulfilling its promises and addressing key socio-economic challenges in the region.
