ISLAMABAD: The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) has embarked on a strategic outreach to the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) in pursuit of support for the upcoming Senate elections. Led by Prince Ahmad Umar Ahmedzai, the recently elected Member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) from BAP, alongside Senate nominee Kahida Babar, the party engaged in crucial discussions with key representatives of both political factions.
Meetings were convened with Sardar Sarfaraz Domki of PPP and former Balochistan chief minister Mir Abdul Quddus, underscoring the pivotal role of coalition-building in the electoral process. The primary focus of the deliberations centered on the impending Senate by-elections, with Prince Ahmad articulating BAP’s aspirations to secure success in the vacant Senate seats through collaborative efforts.
Prince Ahmad emphasized BAP’s possession of two vacant Senate seats and extended an appeal to PPP for support in securing victories for their candidates in both vacancies. Additionally, the BAP delegation sought an audience with Jafar Mandukhel, the provincial president of PML-N, soliciting cooperation and alliance in the Senate electoral arena.
In a notable development, Mir Abdul Qudus Bizenjo, a distinguished former Chief Minister of Balochistan, received the Senate party ticket, underscoring the consolidation of political forces within the region. The endorsement of the Senate ticket by Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti and PPP central leader Ijaz Jakharani further accentuated the significance of inter-party collaboration in the electoral landscape.
The occasion witnessed the convergence of prominent political figures, including Member of the National Assembly Malik Shah Gurgej, Provincial President of People’s Party Chingiz Jamali, and Deputy Speaker Ghazala Gola, alongside various Members of the Provincial Assembly. This concerted effort underscores the strategic alliances and cooperative endeavors aimed at navigating the intricacies of the upcoming Senate elections in Balochistan.
