Jameel Ahmad, the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), officially launched the Pakistan Financial Literacy Week (PFLW) 2024 on March 4, 2024, at an event held at SBP Karachi. The theme for this year’s week is ‘Digital Bankari – fori aur asaan’ (Digital Banking – Quick and Easy). The PFLW is scheduled from March 4 to March 8, 2024, and will include a mix of on-ground and virtual activities for nationwide participation.
Throughout the week, commercial banks and SBP field offices will organize 150 Financial Literacy Camps in 60 cities across Pakistan. These camps aim to provide practical insights into digital financial services, including RAAST, QR codes, and Asaan Mobile/Digital Accounts, along with covering other general topics related to financial literacy.
As a significant aspect of the PFLW, there will be outreach activities targeting students at all educational levels across the country. Competitions focusing on various themes related to digital finance will be conducted in 16 field offices of SBP-Banking Services Corporation, aiming to promote financial awareness and responsible money management from an early age.
Additionally, an online video/poster competition has been arranged for the general public as part of this initiative. The event aligns with global initiatives such as Global Money Week and represents SBP’s pioneering effort to champion financial literacy and inclusion on a national scale.
