The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan voiced concerns on Sunday regarding what he perceives as unfair treatment of the opposition. During a statement, Gohar highlighted the absence of live airing for Omar Ayub’s speech and registered the opposition’s protest before the speaker. He emphasized that such treatment could undermine opposition unity if it persists, urging for a more equitable approach towards all parliamentary members.
Meanwhile, Omar Ayub, in a separate address during the post-PM voting session of the National Assembly, called for an impartial inquiry into the events of May 9 and advocated for the release of political detainees affiliated with the PTI. Ayub emphasized the need for justice, particularly highlighting what he described as the unjust detention of PTI leadership as political prisoners. Additionally, he urged for appropriate facilities to be extended to Bushra Bibi, underlining the importance of humane treatment in detention.
In response to Ayub’s statements, PML-N leader Marriyum Aurangzeb criticized Omar Ayub’s remarks, attributing them to what she described as fear of defeat in the prime ministerial election. Aurangzeb expressed anticipation for Shehbaz Sharif’s success in the upcoming prime ministerial elections and denounced what she perceived as selective acceptance of poll results. She underscored the discrepancy in treatment between provinces and criticized the competition between factions linked to different historical events, such as the May 9 vandalism and the events of May 28. Aurangzeb affirmed her party’s commitment to serving the masses despite perceived misbehavior and emphasized a focus on addressing public concerns.
