ISLAMABAD: Law enforcement authorities have apprehended an individual accused of conducting a malicious social media campaign against the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Abdul Wasay, a resident of Rawalpindi, was arrested for allegedly orchestrating a threatening campaign against Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa.
Sources revealed that Wasay conducted a malicious campaign targeting the CJP on social media platforms, including direct threats and character assassination on X (formerly Twitter).
Prompted by Wasay’s alarming activities, law enforcement took swift action, leading to his detention. Investigations are underway to identify other participants involved in the campaign. Authorities are diligently working to ascertain the identities of all involved individuals.
It has been emphasized that strict legal measures will be taken against those identified in the threatening campaign.
This underscores the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and dignity of public officials.
Additionally, in response to slanderous campaigns targeting election commission officials and government figures on social media, the caretaker government announced the formation of a joint investigation team (JIT) for thorough investigations.
This decision reflects concerns over the spread of misinformation and attempts to manipulate public opinion. The caretaker government is committed to maintaining the integrity of the electoral process and ensuring fair elections.
A spokesperson for the caretaker government stated, “We cannot allow malicious actors to undermine the democratic process through deceitful means.”
